"Tauanga band Brilleaux played into the early evening on Saturday with international guest

The California singer wowed crowds in a magenta ruffle dress, showcasing a soulful
husky wail that got feet stomping."

DIANA HARRIS
The human voice when it is revved up to convey passion can be a marvelous thing. Diana Harris is blessed with a voice that will travel from a whisper to a scream and back with plenty of sonic colorations along the way to make the journey quite interesting. Enthralling even.
The kind of singing that tempers power with grace may be less common today than it once was-a style represented by such torch-carrying representatives as Tina Turner, Chaka Kahn, Renee Geyer and more currently, Sharon Jones. Diana Harris is comfortable in that number, too.

Diana Has been living and working in California and New York and has developed a parallel career in the South Pacific; touring New Zealand, Samoa and the Cook Islands over the past three years. Her exposure to the various music cultures there have deepened her already soulful style, adding dimensions that make her singing and composition-she writes and co-writes her material, composing in Logic-even more tantalizing.
Diana's compositional talents have extended to film and television soundtracks, and she recently scored a documentary she filmed in New Zealand on Maori Culture.
Even though she's in New Zealand, Diana continues to work as back up singer on different project by doing it virtually.
If you've been missing that main ingredient of soul in your music, perhaps you owe it to yourself to check out Diana Harris. Girl can sing.

WHAT'S NEW
Last years tour was amazing. New Zealand, Samoa and Cook Islands. In Samoa I had the pleasure of opening for Ian Moss and playing with incredible kiwi musicians, such as iconic Hammond Gamble. We sang BRING IT ON HOME together every night of the tour! Five months in the South Pacific, the last four months filled with friends, festivals and filming my documentary, Indigenous: Epiphany of a Pakeha, with borrowed cameras. When I got back to LA Josh and I did some gigs at the fabulous MINT and worked on some tunes for a film.
Check out my music page. Just added TALK DIRTY TO ME recorded with 19 piece band! 12 horns: the name of the band...Darrell Leonard Line Up. Darrell and Joe are the award winningTexacali horns.
This year was even better, hard to imagine! I was able to play with some of the most amazing guys like The Fabulous Groovy Brilleaux and well known Tauranga Blues man Grant Haua, joined us for a short Northland Tour. We all played the Tauranga Jazz Festival with Earth Wind and Fire, Keb Mo, Patty Austin, and Kurt Elling.
